precious metal clad
contact tape
INTRODUCTION OF PRODUCTS
This product is a material for electric contacts.
One to five thin layers of precious metals, such as gold, sivler and palladium, are clad on the base metals of copper alloy or other conductive metals which has small cross-section shown below.
The selection for the size of cross-section is varied from 0.2mm X 0.5mm to 2.0mm X 3.5mm and remakable long rolls are avalable.
By way of spot welding of this material on the spring material or adding this material to the spring material during the press process in a high speed press machine, it enable manufacturer to produce extremly small and light electric contacts with widely reduced cost.
The selection of cladding metal is varied from gold, and gold alloys, for micro-currency to silver cadmium oxide alloy for macro-currency.

INTRODUCTION OF TECHNOLOGY

Welding and/or brazing are the techniques used to be empolyed for manufacture of this type of material. However these techniques have disadvantages such as incidental void and limitation in thickness of precious metals layer.
These products adopt a cladding technique which does not melt any base metals and it makes the product can achieve excellent reliability and joint of customer's optional layer without any void at jointing surface with reduced cost.

TYPICAL APPLICATIONS
Electric contact made of more than two base metals with this material by processing in a high speed press machine are popularly use for key board switches, leaf switches and small sized relays.
Compared to the former method of that pressing inlay type clad materials, this material will save the volume of precious metal used.
Thus the size reduction, weight and cost decrease can be achieved.
